Hammel, Sarah Gilkey

Source: Crawfordsville Review July 25, 1916 p 1

Word was received yesterday by relatives in this city of the death of Mrs. Sarah Hummell (sic) at the home of her daughter in Indianapolis. Mrs. Hummel died near the noon hour on Monday. She had been in ill health for several years but the last illness began with the present spell of hot weather.  Mrs. Hummel was a Gilkey before her marriage and she was reared in the Alamo neighborhood. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Will Lamphere of Indianapolis and one sister, Miss Betty Gilkey and one brother, Zack Gilkey of Alamo.  The funeral arrangements had not been made yesterday but it is thought she will be buried in Oak Hill cemetery in this place. - kbz
